Many students use Assistive Technology (AT) in the classroom to assist with reading, solving a math problem, using a computer, and much more! It includes both stand-alone devices and software and encompasses no-tech, low-tech, and high-tech options. A nationwide rise is being reported in the numbers of students with disabilities in college classrooms. Institutions and instructors both need to take steps to ensure that these students have equitable access, and those same measures can help all students. Susan Foster, Gulf Coast Regional Demonstration Center, AT Specialist, will discuss assistive technology to promote independence in school.
